(Carta de Josefina Manresa a Francisco García, de 6 de mayo de 1971 Página 1 de 2 páginas)
Sr. D. Francisco García Sarría (la dirección se omite)
Distinguido Señor: Hace tiempo que Vd. Me visitó
Josefina Manresa

Abstract
Paco
Sarriá, like other Spaniards of his generation, began his academic
career studying Law. He took his first degree at the University of
Murcia in 1949. After completing military service, in the middle of the
Franco years, he left Spain for France. He took his Licence-ès-Lettres
at the University of Bordeaux, where he also met Betty Stone, his
wife-to-be. But he never cut himself off from Spain. Family and other
ties remained firm, and he regularly returned to Alicante, his
birthplace and home of his mother. Over several years he taught Spanish
language and literature in, successively, Casablanca, London and back in
Bordeaux at the Institut d’Études Ibériques et Ibéro-américaines. These
were the years of Noël Salomon. He had reoriented his studies and here
began his serious interest in the modern Spanish novel. He might well
have made his career in France, but instead, in 1966, he took the
opportunity to join the Department of Hispanic Studies at Edinburgh
under A. A. Parker. He virtually stepped into the shoes of his old
friend and classmate from Murcia days, Javier Herrero, who had just left
for America.
